The striking Imperial war museum in Manchester hosted the inaugural fundraising for Rising Girl, earlier this week.
In attendance was Naz Shah MP, and multi-millionaire property tycoon Iftikhar Majeed.
Video messages of support where shared by Ziauddin Yousafzai (Malala’s father), Baroness Warsi, owner of the Peshawar Zalmi cricket team Javed Afridi and the Real House wives of Cheshire star Seema Malhotra.
The afternoon highlighted the need to educate girls globally and kicked off its fundraising activity with a desperate project in Baluchistan, Pakistan where schools for 600 girls had been shut down due to lack of funding; which can leave the young girls prone to abuse and child labour.
The Rising Girl campaign was founded by Emb Hashmi; after she was inspired by one young girls struggle and determination to get an education, which Emb documented through a short film.
