Meet Bro’s is the Asian- Inspired Steakhouse which fuses the Eastern and Western Continents.
The modest restaurant sits on the corner of one of Paddington’s side streets, just a short walk from Lancaster Gate Station. The eatery can easily be mistaken for an authentic Italian restaurant at first glance. However, the entrance at ground level can confuse the customer as an ordinary Turkish Kebab House, but the magic happens when you walk downstairs into the basement, where a new enchanting world of twinkling fairy lights greets you whilst lighting the whole place up.
I look across and notice the main restaurant laden with set-up tables. The creamy limestone walls are the central theme of the restaurant. Clay bricks and wood also featured throughout the hall when I look carefully from my table. The lighting was subtle and dim, and the music in the background was low, just enough to enjoy a decent conversation. There are also private seating areas available for larger groups of people.
One wouldn’t think that would be busy but it was surprisingly bustling with couples and groups of friends mainly. At the same time, there was a calming and relaxed presence in people’s demeanours and the waitresses walked by slowly acknowledging us and giving a warm smile. I am greeted by a waitress and directed to my table. A small lamp and Ala Carte menus are placed in front of me. I am also presented with a generous drink’s menu boasting a wide selection of juices, shakes, mocktails and coolers. I choose a lychee mocktail and a strawberries and cream milkshake to set the tone.
The Food menu has a selection of hot and cold starters and mains offering traditional steaks with sides, yet also offering gourmet burgers, Italian Pizza and Pasta. Many of the dishes had a Pan-Asian twist. However, I choose BBQ Beef Nachos and Asian Style Rib Eye Beef and Mushroom Tempura for starters. The mains consisted of Grilled chicken breast, served with Parisian mash, sautéed spinach, chilli tomato jam and onions. My eating partner ordered a
Lamb shank, served with Parisian mash, miso eggplant. We also garlic bread, steamed broccoli and peppercorn sauce for the sides.
The dessert menu consisted of house specials such as chocolate fondants, banana fritters and gelato ice cream. We decided to have the signature Meet Bros gelato that entails a baked phyllo tart, orange blossom syrup and pistachios.
The Manager greeted me at the end of my meal again and asked if everything was okay. He informed me that they are hosting a Ramadan Special offering, which includes daily iftar buffet evenings. People are most welcome to attend throughout the holy month. He also informed me that the venue is hired out for special events too. They recently hired out the restaurant to a group of ladies wanting to do an Arabic-themed party which proved to be very popular. They provided the decoration, staff and the food.
