As part of Islamophobia Month this year, Better Communities Bradford (BCB) has received a generous three-year grant from the Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales. The grant will provide much-needed support for BCB’s efforts to combat racism, Islamophobia, and other forms of injustice in the Bradford community. This funding is part of the Foundation’s larger initiative, where a total of £3 million will be distributed to community-led organisations. With this grant, BCB will be able to continue their work towards creating a more inclusive and resilient society.
The grant will specifically help fund BCB’s latest project, ‘Fighting Against Islamophobia, Together for Hope’ (Project FAITH). This project aims to address Islamophobia through educational workshops, interfaith dialogues, and community support. The additional funding will allow BCB to expand their reach and promote understanding and unity among the diverse residents of Bradford.
Abbas Najib, CEO of Better Communities Bradford, expressed his gratitude: “This grant is a vital resource for our community. It empowers us to expand our work, including initiatives like Project FAITH and gives us the support needed to tackle Islamophobia and racism head-on. We are grateful to the Lloyds Bank Foundation for their commitment to our shared vision of equality and social cohesion.”
In addition to financial backing, the Lloyds Bank Foundation will provide BCB with tailored support to strengthen its organisational capacity, furthering the charity’s reach and impact.
